Our first project in our game design course, we worked in groups of four to create a fully functional board game based on the game design concepts outlined in the book Rules of Play by Katie Salen and Eric Zimmerman. The process involved creating paper prototypes, constantly testing the proper balance of card distributions, holding user testing sessions, and presenting the final product.
The objective was to collect cards while the players explore the rooms on the board, and find the keys they needed to win the game. We included various elements that allow the players to steal cards from each other if certain conditions on the board are met.
